Description
Introduction of the ZWO ASI 462 MC (colors) 1936×1096 2.9µm
The ZWO ASI 462 MC is ZWO’s latest planetary color camera that uses the Sony IMX462 1/2.8” format 12-bit ADC sensor. The pixel size of 2.9um accommodates a well depth of 11.2 ke with a total of 2.1 MP. With the ability to capture infrared light, super high sensitivity and very low readout noise, ZWO’s ASI 462 MC is considered the improved version of ASI 290 MC. This new camera will provide great performance for planetary, solar and lunar astrophotography.
The ZWO ASI IMX 462 sensor
The size of the IMX462 sensor is 1/2.8”. The sensor length and width are 5.6mm * 3.2mm and the diagonal is 6.46mm. The resolution is 1936 * 1096.
HCG Mode
This camera from ZWO has a built-in HCG mode, which effectively reduces readout noise at high gain and maintains the same wide dynamic range for this camera as it does at low gain. If the gain is 80, the HCG mode will be turned on automatically. In addition, the reading noise is as low as 0.47e, while the dynamic range can still be close to 12 stops.
QE curve
The ZWO ASI 462 has a very high QE value at a wavelength of 800-1000 nm (almost 2 times higher than that of ASI 290 MC). Its sensitivity in areas with near-infrared light is the first of all ASI planetary cameras.
