Introducing the ZWO ASI 183MC-PRO cooled (colors) 20 1mp
The cooled ASI183MC is equipped with the modern SONY Exmor R BSI IMX183 color sensor. With approximately 20 million pixels, this camera is one of the largest CMOS astrocameras. The resolution of the camera is sensational due to the pixel size of only 2.4 μm. This makes the ASI183 especially interesting for bright telescopes and camera lenses.
Small pixels, ideally suited for a small refractor or very fast system
Unlike many other deep sky cameras, the ASI183MC-P has very small pixels. As a result, you are assured of a high resolution and therefore many small details. These cameras are often used in faster systems such as a RASA or a Hyperstar solution from Celestron and Starizona. Of course, smaller pixels also come with disadvantages, such as a smaller full well depth. These disadvantages can often be largely counteracted by collecting more data on an object. In the case of a very fast system like F2, these disadvantages are very limited because a lot of data is collected in a very short time.
Sensational light sensitivity
One of the outstanding features of the ASI183 is its sensational light sensitivity. The 84% QE due to the back-illumination technology and the very low amp-glow make the camera suitable for all astronomical applications, but especially for deep-sky astrophotography.
Color camera (OSC)
The “single-shot” color camera offers more comfort than monochrome cameras. Not everyone wants to go through the elaborate L-RGB process for beautiful colored shots or planetary shots. The color cameras allow you to take beautiful pictures without changing filters and without hassle. In direct comparison with the DSLR camera, the ASI183MC convinces with a much higher light sensitivity, a smoother image and more depth. Stars don’t burn out that quickly.
