HOBYM Observatory
HOBYM Observatory
Hobym observatory was founded in 2009 as a public observatory. Once started, the idea came up to build high quality mounts with a low weight but a high carrying weight.
The founder of the Hobym observatory, Mr. Injoon Hwang has a long experience of viewing and photographing the night sky. He is one of the most famous astrophotographers in South Korea and has published many books on astrophotography.
His 30 years of practical experience inspired him to create the CRUX mount to solve many of the problems he had encountered with the conventional equatorial mounts.
Harmonic Drive technology.
Crux mounts feature Harmonic Drive technology. This technology gives Crux the following advantages over traditional drive systems for astronomy applications:
- They have no play, so tracking is extremely accurate and the mount is extremely responsive…
- They have a very high torque. This makes it ideal for use with all loads. For example, the length of a refractor normally requires a much heavier mount than a typical weight capacity would suggest.
- The load limits for Crux mounts apply to all types of telescopes as well as photography.
